I have been working on hepatitis C research for 5 years, starting in Egypt. I worked on developping an HCV virus like particle to be used a drug delivery vehicle and potentially elicit protective immunity. in january 2021 I started my PhD journey in the lab of doctor Jordan Feld in Toronto Center for liver disease. My project focuses on hepatitis C founder variant characterization using early HCV infection samples from a HCV NAT+ to NAT - lung transplant trial. Exploring the sequence and functional properties of HCV founders and non-founders.
