CanHepC Annual Meeting 2021
CanHepC held its 6th Annual Meeting on April 23, 2021 gathering 77 of our member investigators, knowledge users, collaborators, and trainees.
Exceptionally this year and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Annual Meeting was held in an entirely virtual format. The main topic of discussion of the meeting focused around CanHepC’s recent application to the CIHR Hepatitis C Research funding opportunity essential for ensuring the continuity of the network’s activities which closed this past June. Proposed ideas and themes within each of the research areas of the funding opportunity (hepatitis C prevention and reaching the undiagnosed, long-term consequences) were presented and discussed by the assembly including basic science and knowledge translation priorities for the next term. The CanHepC training program was also reviewed and trainee feedback was presented. Participants were engaged through live Q&A sessions and questions were answered from the chat throughout the whole day. This gave way to fruitful brainstorming sessions which contributed to strengthen the way forward with CanHepC’s CIHR application which was submitted a few weeks later on June 1st. The Annual Meeting concluded with a review of CanHepC’s financial and administrative matters.
Thank you again to all present at the Annual Meeting and to everyone involved! We are expecting to hear back from CIHR at the end of October 2021.
